Wild Woods Camp Fires and Cooking Adventures
Comberton Summer Camp 2003
A small group of big and little kids spent a sleepless night over
the Whitsun half term camping wild in the back of Ian and Jenny’s
garden.
Tents were erected and parents banished before we set off to the
woods to collect our firewood. Richard led an expedition to search
for local wildlife and Katy got stung by the nettles. Everyone carried
wood back to start our fires.
After a wild time by Ross in the paddling pool we started cooking:
- Eggs boiled in a cup
- Burgers cooked in an Onion (Cannon Balls)
- Burgers and Big Chips cooked on Foil pans
- Vegetable Kebabs
- Muffins cooked in an Orange
- Chocolate Bananas
- Bread Twists
- Marshmallows and Hot Chocolate
As night fell we had an expedition to the Rec. to try out the slides
and swings in the dark!
Eventually bed called but not sleep. Most woke up at 4.30am to
be sent back to bed and at 5.00am!
When the parents arrived for breakfast everyone was still asleep
and could only be roused by the smell of bacon.
